Edition guide / For school buyers
Which edition belongs in your classroom?
Every Polished Play app ships in two forms: a free family app and a School Edition built for managed devices and school purchasing. This page compares them side by side for all three apps, so teachers, administrators, and IT can pick the right one to deploy.
01 / Puppet Pals
Puppet Pals 1 vs. Puppet Pals School Edition.
Separate apps with different purchasing and data flows. School Edition is built for shared and managed devices: fully unlocked, with no AI features and no student media leaving the device.

| What to compare | Puppet Pals 1Standard family app | Puppet Pals School EditionRecommended for schools |
|---|---|---|
| How it is acquired | Free download from the public app stores. | Paid classroom app: purchased per seat on iOS, and delivered privately through managed Google Play on Android and Chromebooks — the listing never appears in the public store. |
| Feature access | Free core app; an optional Creative Club subscription unlocks subscriber features, including AI image generation and photo stylization. | Fully unlocked from first launch. AI features are not available — enforced by the server, with no setting to enable them — and no photos are ever sent off-device. |
| Purchase model | Optional Creative Club subscription for subscriber features. | One-time purchase per seat on iOS; annual site license per school building on Android and Chromebooks. |
| In-app purchases | The Creative Club subscription is offered inside the app. | None. No purchase prompts on either platform. |
| Deployment channel | Not intended for managed school deployment. | Apple School Manager and MDM (Jamf, Mosyle, Kandji) on iPad; managed Google Play assignment from the Google Admin console on Android and Chromebooks. |
| Device support | iPad, iPhone, and Android devices through the public stores. | iPad through Apple School Manager; Android tablets and Chromebooks through managed Google Play. |
Licensing model
On Android tablets and Chromebooks, School Edition is an annual site license per school building — $150.00 per building per school year, unlimited devices, ordered on the licensing page; on iPad it is a one-time purchase per seat through the App Store or Apple School Manager.
Add Book Builder and the second app is half price — $225.00 covers both apps for one building. License both
School Edition also comes with 45 printable lesson plans across nine subjects — objectives, teacher steps, examples, and rubrics — now being published at /lessons.
02 / Puppet Pals 2
Puppet Pals 2 vs. Puppet Pals 2: School Edition.
Both editions share the same animated stage. The difference for a school is how the complete app is purchased, assigned, and handed to students — with no purchase decisions left on the iPad.

School Edition is a one-time purchase per app license through Apple School Manager — Apple sets the price, so review the current offer in Apple School Manager rather than a number copied into a web page.
