Puppet Pals / Deployment guide

From classroom request to installed app.

Teachers make the case. IT gets the licenses and deploys the app. This page gives each person exactly what they need for the handoff — for iPads through Apple School Manager, and for Android tablets and Chromebooks through managed Google Play.

Before you begin

Know which side of the handoff is yours.

  1. 01

Teacher: send the ready-made request below.

  2. 02

IT: follow the deployment steps for your platform.

01 / Teacher

Make the request.

App purchasing for managed school iPads is usually handled by IT or a technology coordinator. Give them the app name and device count; they can handle licensing and installation.

02 / IT administrator

License and deploy.

Get Puppet Pals: School Edition licenses — through Apple School Manager for iPads, or an annual site license for Android tablets and Chromebooks — then use your device management service to assign the app to the right devices or users.

Hi,

I’d like to request that Puppet Pals: School Edition be installed on the iPads in my classroom. It’s a one-time purchase app for student storytelling and animation.

It should be available by searching for “Puppet Pals School Edition” in the Apps and Books section of Apple School Manager.

I need it on [number] devices. Let me know if you need anything else from my end.

Thanks!

Message template · Android & Chromebooks

Hi,

I’d like to request Puppet Pals: School Edition for the Android tablets and Chromebooks in my classroom. It’s licensed to schools as an annual site license per building with unlimited devices.

The license is ordered at polishedplay.com/schools. The order form asks for our school name, a contact email, and our Google organization ID (in Google Workspace, that’s the Customer ID under admin.google.com → Account → Account settings → Profile).

Let me know if you need anything else from my end.

Thanks!

For IT: iPads (Apple School Manager)

Five steps to deployment.

Apple School Manager handles the licenses. Your MDM or device management service handles assignment and installation.

  1. 01

Go to school.apple.com (opens in a new tab) with a user who has permission to get app licenses. Apple School Manager lets administrators control this through role privileges.

  2. 02

    Open Apps and Books

Select Apps and Books in the sidebar. Search for “Puppet Pals School Edition” and select the app from the results.

  3. 03

    Choose location and quantity

Select the location that should initially receive the licenses, then enter the quantity you need. For device-based deployment, plan for one license per assigned device.

  4. 04

    Get the licenses

Review the payment method shown for your organization, then select Buy. Processing time can vary for very large quantities.

  5. 05

    Assign and install

Sync Apps and Books with your MDM, assign the app license to the appropriate device group or users, and initiate installation. Supervised iPads can install managed apps silently.

Operational notes · Apple School Manager

Good to know before iPad rollout.

The licensing and installation details below affect how the app moves between classrooms and devices.

01

One-time purchase on iPad

School Edition is not a subscription on iOS. Your organization retains the app licenses it gets through Apple School Manager.

02

Licenses can move

Apps assigned through managed distribution can be revoked from one device or user and reassigned to another.

03

Silent install requires supervision

On supervised iPads, a device management service can install the app without a student prompt. Unsupervised devices may ask the user to approve installation.

04

Apple School Manager and MDM work together

Apple School Manager supplies the licenses. Your MDM or device management service assigns them and installs the app.

Not using Apple School Manager?

A school can also purchase the app directly from the App Store on an individual device. For multiple managed iPads, Apple School Manager is the more practical route because the organization can centrally retain and reassign licenses.

For IT: Android & Chromebooks (managed Google Play)

Four steps to deployment.

On Android tablets and Chromebooks, School Edition is a private app licensed as an annual site license per school building with unlimited devices. Your school orders once; we handle the Google Play side.

  1. 01

    Order the site license

Order at polishedplay.com/schools with your school name, a contact email, your Google organization ID, and the number of school buildings.

  2. 02

    We add your organization

We add your school’s Google organization ID in Google Play within 1 business day and email you confirmation.

  3. 03

Find it in managed Google Play

The listing is private, so Puppet Pals: School Edition appears only inside your school’s managed Google Play once your organization is added.

  4. 04

    Assign and install

In the Google Admin console, go to Apps → Web and mobile apps to assign the app to Chromebooks and managed Android devices, or use your device-management tool.

Where to find your organization ID — Google Workspace: sign in at admin.google.com → Account → Account settings → Profile → Customer ID (it looks like C03az79cb); MDM-managed Play: it’s in your managed Google Play settings.
