Ask for the right app.
Managed-school app purchasing is usually handled by IT or a technology coordinator. Send the exact product name, the number of iPads, and the date you hope to use it.
Puppet Pals 2 / Deployment guide
Teachers make the request. IT gets the licenses, installs the app, and checks the device permissions. This guide gives both sides a clean handoff.
Before you begin
Know which side of the handoff is yours.
Teacher: send the ready-made request below.
IT: license, deploy, and run the pilot checks.

Message template
Hi,
I’d like to request that Puppet Pals 2: School Edition be installed on the iPads in my classroom. It’s a one-time-purchase app for student storytelling, dialogue, and animation.
It should be available by searching for “Puppet Pals 2: School Edition” in the Apps and Books section of Apple School Manager.
I need it on [number] devices by [date]. We plan to use [microphone / camera / photos / Schoolwork]. Let me know if you need anything else from my end.
Thanks!
For IT administrators
Apple School Manager handles the licenses. Your device management service handles assignment and installation.
Go to school.apple.com (opens in a new tab) with a user who has permission to acquire app licenses.
Open Apps and Books. Search for “Puppet Pals 2: School Edition” and confirm that the listing is published by Polished Play, LLC. Do not select the free standard edition.
Select the location that should initially receive the licenses, then enter the quantity you need. For device-based deployment, acquire one license per iPad that will be assigned the app.
Review the payment method and purchase terms shown for your organization, then complete the order. Availability and education pricing are determined by Apple and can vary by region.
Sync Apps and Books with your MDM, assign licenses to the appropriate device group or users, and initiate installation. Supervised iPads can install the managed app silently.
Operational notes
These licensing details affect how the app moves between classrooms, users, and devices.
For device-based deployment, plan for one app license per assigned iPad. User-based deployment requires a license for each assigned user.
Apple School Manager supplies the app licenses. Your device management service assigns those licenses and installs the app.
A device management service can install managed apps silently on supervised iPads. An unsupervised device may ask the user to approve installation.
Managed app licenses can be revoked from one device or user and reassigned to another when your organization’s needs change.
Device permissions
Puppet Pals 2 can make a basic show with its built-in library. Its microphone, camera, and photo features each depend on an iOS permission and any restrictions applied by your MDM.
Records student dialogue and other audio for a puppet show.
Captures a face when a student creates a custom character.
Lets a student choose a photo for a custom character or background.
Saves an exported show to the device’s photo library.
Plan for first-use permission prompts during your pilot. If a restriction blocks a feature, the built-in characters and settings remain available, but recording or importing may not work as the teacher expects.
Pilot before rollout
A successful MDM command confirms that the app arrived. A short end-to-end test confirms that students can actually make, save, and turn in the work your lesson requires.
Install the managed app on the same iPad model and configuration students will use.
Open the app once and test the microphone, camera, and both photo-library permission paths.
Record, save, close, and reopen a short show to confirm local storage works as expected.
Export a test movie using the sharing restrictions your student devices will have.
If you use Shared iPad, confirm which local user can reopen a saved project; do not assume projects follow a student to another device.
If your school uses Apple Schoolwork, assign and complete a short test activity before classroom rollout.
Local projects
Puppet Pals 2 has no student account or project-sync service. Do not assume a saved show will follow a student to another iPad or another Shared iPad user. Export anything the school needs to retain before changing the assignment.
Removal and reassignment
On iPhone and iPad, removing a managed app can also remove the data in its app container. Set an export or retention procedure before IT removes the app, unenrolls a device, or repurposes an iPad.
Apple Schoolwork
Puppet Pals 2 starts and stops a ClassKit activity while a movie is made. Schools using Apple Schoolwork should include that activity in the pilot and decide whether it belongs in the planned lesson.
Straight from Apple
Apple changes its administration tools over time. Use these guides when your organization’s workflow differs from the summary above.
