Puppet Pals 1 Transition Guide
Answers to common questions about transitioning classrooms from the free app.
Dear Puppet Pals Educators,
Since 2010, Puppet Pals has been downloaded millions of times. It’s been used in classrooms across the world to help students find their voice through storytelling.
We’re a small, independent studio, and we’ve poured everything into making this the best it can be for your students. The entire app has been rebuilt from the ground up: modern, reliable, and packed with new tools designed specifically for the classroom.
Puppet Pals: School Edition has everything your classroom needs—all tools and content unlocked, no limits. On iPads it’s just a one-time purchase, and for Android tablets and Chromebooks an annual site license covers your whole school.
Thank you for putting Puppet Pals in your students’ hands. We can’t wait to see what they create next.
With gratitude,
The Puppet Pals Team
What about the free version?
Starting August 1, 2026, the free version of Puppet Pals will be updated with limits geared toward individual and personal use. Core features remain free, with an optional Creative Club subscription for AI-styled characters and video export.
Already on School Edition? These changes don’t affect you.
Frequently asked questions
Is School Edition a subscription?
On iOS, no—School Edition is a one-time purchase per seat. Buy it once, use it forever, with no in-app purchases and no surprises on your school’s credit card. On Android & Chromebooks, School Edition is an annual site license per school building with unlimited devices—see our school licensing page for details and pricing.
How do I get School Edition for my school?
For iPads, School Edition is available through Apple School Manager or directly on the App Store, and your IT department can deploy it to managed devices. For Android tablets and Chromebooks, order an annual site license at our school licensing page—we add your school’s Google organization ID in Google Play within 1 business day and email you, the app appears in your managed Google Play, and admins assign it to devices from the Google Admin console. We’ve put together a step-by-step setup guide with everything you need, including a ready-to-send message for your IT department.
What if my school can’t purchase right away?
We recommend starting the conversation with your IT department or administration now—the free version continues to work as it always has until August 1. Our setup guide includes a ready-to-send message you can forward to your IT team to get the ball rolling.
