Privacy Policy — Doodle Golf

Overview

Doodle Golf is a single-player golf game distributed on the Apple App Store. We’re committed to protecting the privacy of all players — especially children — and we comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

There are no user accounts in Doodle Golf. Your scores, streaks, and custom levels are stored on your device and never linked to your identity. The only data that ever leaves your device is your anonymous stroke count for the current Daily Mode hole, used to compute the shared cohort distribution.

Information We Collect

Daily Mode Stroke Counts (Anonymous)

When you finish a Daily Mode hole, the app sends a single number — your stroke count — to our server, tagged only with the day number of the challenge. We add it to the aggregate bucket for that day so every player can see how their score compares to the cohort.

We do not attach a user identifier, device identifier, IP-derived identifier, name, or any other personal information. We retain only the running totals per day (count, sum, best score, distribution histogram) — not individual submissions.

Anonymous Analytics

We collect basic, anonymous usage analytics through our own first-party analytics system. No third-party analytics services are used. This data cannot be linked to any individual user or device.

The anonymous analytics data includes:

• General app usage patterns and features used
• Country and region information in aggregate form
• Device type and operating system
• App version

Feedback (Optional)

Parents, guardians, or players may submit feedback about the app. Any information provided in the feedback form is voluntary and used only to improve the app.

What We Don’t Collect

We do not collect any personally identifiable information. Specifically, we do not collect:

• Names, usernames, or contact information
• Precise location data
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Custom levels you draw in the editor
• Individual daily scores tied to a player
• Any information that could identify individual users

There are no user accounts or logins in Doodle Golf.

How We Use Information

Daily Cohort Stats

The aggregated stroke counts are used to render the “how you compare” histogram on the Daily Mode result screen and the public share landing page at polishedplay.com/doodlegolf/daily/N. The same numbers also help us tune hole difficulty over time.

Anonymous Analytics

Anonymous usage analytics are used solely to:

• Improve app functionality and user experience
• Understand which features are most used
• Identify and fix technical issues
• Make informed decisions about future app updates

Feedback

Feedback submissions are used solely to understand user needs and improve the app.

Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell, trade, or share user data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We do not use any third-party analytics services.

The following third-party services are involved in the operation of Doodle Golf:

• Apple — Distributes the app via the App Store.
• Vercel — Hosts our API and website.

Data Retention and Deletion

• Daily cohort aggregates: retained indefinitely in aggregate form (no individual rows).
• Your scores, streaks, and custom levels: stored on the device only. Deleting the app deletes everything.
• Anonymous analytics: retained in aggregate form for product improvement; cannot be linked to individuals.
• Feedback submissions: retained for as long as they are useful for improving the app.

Children’s Privacy

Doodle Golf is suitable for all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The feedback feature is presented only on parent-facing screens.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect the limited data we handle.
