Overview
Perch is a work tracker for small teams, available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and the web. Unlike our children’s apps, Perch requires an account, because a workspace is shared between teammates and we have to know who is who.
We do not run analytics, we do not use tracking or advertising SDKs, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone. The information we hold is the information you type into the app, plus what is needed to sign you in.
Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier and email that service provides — including Apple’s private relay address, if you choose to hide your email. Sign-in is handled by Clerk (see Third-Party Services below); we store only the resulting user identifier alongside your workspace membership.
We never receive or store your password. We do not have access to your Apple or Google account beyond the sign-in itself.
Content you create
Perch stores the things you put in it so your team can see them:
- Your workspace name and the projects in it
- Tasks — title, description, status, priority, who they’re assigned to, and their order on the board
- Comments you write on tasks
- Images you attach to a task or comment, including screenshots shared from another app
- Your display name and the color or emoji you pick as your avatar
Sign-in credentials for devices
Each device that signs in holds a token so that features which cannot carry a full login — the home-screen widget and the share extension — can still reach your board. Those tokens are stored with your membership and can be revoked from Settings at any time. Short-lived codes used to sign in an additional device expire after five minutes.
What we do not collect
- No usage analytics, event tracking, or session recording
- No advertising identifiers, and no advertising
- No location data
- No contacts, photos library, or calendar access
- No third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs of any kind
How We Use Information
We use it to run the app and nothing else: to show your board to you and your teammates, to keep every device in sync live, to deliver the widget and quick capture, and to let a workspace creator manage who has access.
We do not profile you, we do not use your content to train machine-learning models, and we do not use it for marketing.
Who Can See Your Work
Everything in a workspace is visible to the members of that workspace. There is no public sharing in Perch — nothing you write is exposed to the internet, and members of one workspace cannot see another.
The person who created the workspace can add and remove members, and can revoke a member’s device access. Removing a member unassigns their tasks and deletes their sign-in credentials; the comments they wrote remain as part of the workspace’s history, shown without an author.
Third-Party Services
We do not sell, trade, or share your data for marketing or advertising. The following services process data on our behalf in order to run Perch:
- Clerk — handles sign-in and stores your account credentials and email address.
- Convex — hosts the database and file storage holding your workspace content and image attachments.
- Vercel — hosts the Perch web app and this website.
- Apple — distributes the iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps via the App Store.
Each acts as a processor for us and is bound by its own agreement covering the data it handles.
Data Retention and Deletion
You can delete your account from inside the app, in Settings, on any platform. What that does depends on your workspace:
- If you are the only member, deleting your account deletes the entire workspace — its projects, tasks, comments, and every uploaded image, including the stored files themselves.
- If you are a member of someone else’s workspace, deleting your account removes your membership, your sign-in credentials, and unassigns your tasks. The workspace and its content remain with the rest of the team.
- If you created a workspace others are still in, we ask you to remove the remaining members first, so that deleting your account never destroys a teammate’s work without warning.
Deleting your account also deletes it with Clerk, our sign-in provider.
Routine retention, while your account is open:
- Deleted tasks are recoverable briefly so an accidental delete can be undone, then permanently removed about seven days later.
- Completed tasks are archived automatically once a week. Archived work stays in your workspace until you delete it.
- Uploaded images that never got attached to a task or comment are swept and deleted, typically within 48 hours.
- Everything else is kept until you delete it or delete your account.
You can also export your workspace’s contents from Settings at any time.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you. The app itself covers most of this — you can edit your content, export your workspace, and delete your account without contacting anyone. For anything else, write to us at privacy@polishedplay.com and we will respond.
Children’s Privacy
Perch is a tool for work and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Data Security
All traffic between the apps, our website, and our processors is encrypted with industry-standard TLS. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel and requires multi-factor authentication. Device sign-in tokens can be revoked individually from Settings if a device is lost.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
